Thank you! Really appreciate your interest in Write & Direct—I’m Kyler Boudreau, founder of the school. If you came to me and said, “I wanna make movies, what should I do?” I’d tell you this: Learn the craft from development through post-production. Learn it well. But don’t spend much money on your education. This will do two massive things:

First, as Robert Rodriguez says, if you know how to do everything you’re unstoppable. You’re not reliant on crew. If you’re shooting a film and your gaffer (who’s doing you a favor) gets a paid gig and has to bail, no big deal. You know how to light your set. If you can’t afford a color grader YOU know how to color grade your film. This applies to everything.

Second, if you don’t spend a lot of money on your education you can purchase the gear you need to keep making movies. This is huge. Regardless of what film school you attend, your objective after graduation is to begin making movies, but you have to fund them.

Write & Direct is a very hands-on school. We keep education costs low so you can do what you need to do. You’ll make a thesis film during the training, and then have the knowledge and gear to keep moving forward!
