Do you have a teenager who wants to direct movies? Write & Direct will teach them the craft of filmmaking in a very hands-on way. They begin with an idea in development and take it to end credits in post production.
Aspiring directors have a single mission after graduating from film school: To begin making movies. Directors who are reliant on crew end up delaying their career by years. Why? Because crew can't work for free. If a gaffer, sound mixer or DP doing a favor get a paid gig, they have to bail. Directors with the ability to wear multiple hats control their future.
Story is king. We teach how to go from idea to completed script the right way. Logline, structure, plot, theme, characters, obstacles — critical points covered in over 30 detailed lessons.
Understanding pre-production is paramount to a smooth production. Your child will learn how to breakdown a script, create a shot list, shooting schedule, about film equipment, tech scouts and more.
Production is where hard work begins to pay off. Students will learn how to schedule, light a set, operate the camera, get clean sound, work with actors, prepare for editorial and so much more.
It's been said that a movie is made in the editing room. Every moment of hard work leads up to this point. Learn about post supervision, picture editing, sound design, foley, ADR, color correction, music editing and more.
There's a sad aspect to some film schools in 2025. You could even call it unethical. What is it?
Schools are well aware that the film industry prioritizes talent and connections over academic credentials or degrees. The entertainment industry is filled with aspiring directors who believed investing heavily in film school would guarantee their success. But it does not.
You can test this theory by having your kid call up studios. Tell them they graduated from SCHOOL NAME at the top of their class. And then watch what happens.
So what gives? How does anyone break in?
To be a successful director your child must learn the craft of story telling. They also must become technical. And they must start making movies immediately after graduation. They need credits on IMDb. They need to grow their audience. They need to make connections.
The crushing financial weight of traditional film schools hinders new filmmakers from finding success. It's impossible to afford film school, rent, food and self-funding their own movies.
What's the answer? Pay less for education so money is freed to purchase gear and start making films.
Write & Direct does this. It will speed up your child's path to success. It can change their future.
Write & Direct guides through the four phases of making a narrative film in literal, actionable steps. Nothing is left unturned. Your child will write and direct their own movie, enter it into festivals and submit it to IMDb.
And most importantly?
They will learn how to do it right. Too many aspiring filmmakers crash and burn because they don't understand the craft.
This is the film school that will start your child out right.
